IV.              Course Description

This course utilizes the newest of lifelong-learning strategies and cognitive-training tactics to make learning fun and stimulating right from the start. Virtually every session, whether recorded or live, will lead learners to acquire and use the structured language of Esperanto even when their previous attempts at foreign language learning have failed. Dennis Keefe’s expert use of current research combined with Elluminate Live™, the newest of delivery methods, makes this course the best first choice for learning to learn . . . for learning to communicate without the use of memorized phrases. PEPAS online, via Elluminate Live™, is structured to become a favorite with youngsters wishing to travel to foreign lands and oldsters wishing to maintain their cognitive skills while having fun.

V.                 Learner Outcomes

More self-confidence, an increased awareness of language construction, and the type of love for learning generally found only in the very young. Plus, like most other gefratoj-sponsored courses, Paroliga Ekzercaro Por Azianaj Similideanoj (PEPAS) focuses on the acquisition of habit patterns that permit learners to relate to their Asian gefratoj (brothers and sisters).

VI.              Methodology & Course Requirements

The PEPAS use conventional presentation files and textbook formats but their focus is on content-based learning—on using Esperanto to learn social survival skills along with subjects such as geography. Integral to the PEPAS are also exercises, break-out sessions (for group work and role play), and pertinent assessment questions. In other words, the PEPAS use a truly eclectic methodology. There are no course requirements.

VII.           Assessment and Criteria for Evaluating

Since “Asia-bound 101” deals with social communication skills, the course assessment focuses on comprehensible output, meaning, Is a person’s speech understandable? If the feedback from break-out sessions is mostly positive, meaning, teammates said they understood what was said, the pass criterion is met.

VIII.        Other Requirements

None to receive a personalized certificate of Successful Completion of the PEPAS, however, to be archived as a GEFRATO, each graduate needs to lead at least one new student to this or one of the other gefratoj-sponsored courses.

IX.              Course Schedule

Live sessions are held every six hours, i.e.: 1:00, 7:00, 13:00 & 19:00 GMT. Access to select recorded sessions is unrestricted. The live courses start new every six months beginning on the first day of spring and the first day of fall. E-mail to Coach Joe at epn.coach@gmail.com to register and get your password. The course is free but, since Elluminate Live™ charges us $100 per password, donations toward that expense are greatly appreciated.
